FULMER & COMPANY VIRTUAL HOLIDAY PARTY

The Challenge – A Connective + Unique Holiday Experience in a COVID World

How do we create a meaningful and unique holiday experience during COVID times?  That is just what our client Fulmer & Company challenged us to do.  Every year Fulmer & Company thanks and celebrates their staff with an intimate and outstanding holiday party and 2020 was not going to be an exception to that. The challenge at hand was to create a virtual evening unlike any other that still offered a sense of “togetherness” and “intimacy” while avoiding the typical virtual event pitfalls and fatigue. The result was a virtual holiday party with 42 friends and colleagues featuring an interactive cooking class with celebrity chef Vikram Vij and a surprise private performance by Juno award winning band Dear Rouge – all from the comfort of home!

The Strategy – The Key? Curated + Interactive

We focused on two main factors when ideating on the Virtual Holiday experience; interaction + curation. It was important that whatever programming we presented was as bespoke as possible and involved both big wow moments and touches of surprise and delight.  The event started the evening before with a special delivery to every guest’s door that included fresh ingredients for an incredible curry dinner, a stunning floral centerpiece and two bottles of wine, all packaged up in a box hand signed by Vikram Vij himself!   As guests arrived on the zoom call they were ready with knives in hands and aprons on.  Setting up a studio at Vikram’s restaurant allowed us to create a live and fully immersive two way experience for the guests. As he walked through the recipe guests could ask questions, show Vikram their progress and talk amongst themselves. Vikram even graced guests with some of his famous dance skills!  Once dinner had been served we flipped the studio from kitchen to stage and attendees were treated to a surprise private performance by Dear Rouge, who played some of their greatest hits and took questions from the audience.  The performance was both informal and super high touch and allowed guests to really connect with the musicians in a way they never would have been able to in person. The evening ended with words of thanks and gratitude and memories of an unparalleled Holiday Party experience.

The Impact In Our Client’s Words

“In COVID times it was important to us not to lose our annual tradition of a “bang up” holiday party. Not knowing what to do, we turned to our trusted partners Brandlive. They produced such an amazing evening, including a once in a lifetime live cooking class with Vikram Vij (with ingredients, wine and flowers hand delivered to attendees homes and Vikram supervising everyone’s at home dinner preparation), a live and interactive concert with iconic Vancouver band Dear Rouge and time for us to mix and mingle – all virtually – with flawless sound and video production. What we were worried would be a “trying hard” event turned into our most memorable holiday party yet. Our sincere thanks to Jennifer Findlay and the whole team at Brandlive. You’re the people who saved Christmas.” – Yuri Fulmer
