The Challenge
A name with meaning

In 2012, the Kitsilano West 4th Business Association called on BRANDLIVE to produce the second installment of the annual Khatsahlano! Music + Art Festival. The name of the festival, Khatsahlano, paying tribute to the Nations that inhabited this area for over 3,000 years.

The festival’s concept centered around celebrating community and representing the true spirit of West 4th – a laid back atmosphere that inspires one to be creative and engaged. The Strategy

Vancouver’s biggest street party

The festival featured more than 40 bands on 10 stages throughout West 4th Avenue between Burrard Street and MacDonald Street. Art installations, extended patios, and family-friendly attractions provided an array of activations for visitors to enjoy.

Brand partners included Car2Go, Obey, Safeway, Sunrise Foods, TELUS, ICBC, and Encorp, while media partnerships and social media reach resulted in record attendance. BRANDLIVE was responsible for production, marketing, and sponsorship and under a short timeline our team outperformed targets and contributed a considerable percentage to the festival’s total operating budget through sponsorship sales.

The Impact
An event to remember

More than 60,000 visitors came out to enjoy this 2 day urban festival. BRANDLIVE was instrumental in programming and sponsorship funding for this project, executing a dynamic array of festival activations that left visitors with a lasting impression.
